Day memorable with out breaking the bank!
Gifts
from the Heart
While Valentine's Day is a special day to remind your
sweetheart how much you love him/her, the most important thing to remember is
that the gifts remembered are the ones coming from the heart, and not the wallet.
Here are a few of Cupid's gift ideas for you.

with only candles for illumination. Wash his/her hair. Shave him. Paint her toenails.
Feed each other chocolates & cherries. And of course do not forget the back rub!
Love
Notes
Write notes and leave them everywhere - underwear, pockets, briefcase,
lunchbox, car etc.
Valentine's
Day Coupons
Give Valentine's Day coupons to you sweetheart! You can either
cut out little paper hearts or print some out on the computer and decorate with
a red or pink marker or heart and cupid stickers.
Give
the coupons inside a card or for more fun, roll them up tight, insert them into

Valentine
Hide and Seek
Have all the children hide their eyes while you "hide"
a valentine in the room. (It should be placed in plain view) Tell the children
to find the Valentine, but not touch it. Once they spot it they should sit back
down in their spot. The first one to sit down again will get to hide the valentine.
Valentine
Hunt
Divide the kids into teams and give them a list of Valentine's Day
related items to locate around the room. Some fun items to place around the room
are heart shaped erasers, pencils/pens with hearts on them, small notepads with
hearts, Hershey's Kisses, small boxes of candy hearts, etc. The team with the
most items found wins.
Hiding Hearts
Draw a picture with hearts all over the place throughout
the picture, make photo copies, so that eeveryone will have a page. Give everyone
pen and paper and give them 3 minutes to find count how many hearts they can find
in the picture. The kids who find the correct number of hearts in the picture
win a prize.
Musical
Valentine Gifts
Have the kids sit in a circle and give one child a wrapped
Valentine present. Play music and have them pass the present around the circle.
When the music stops, the child holding the present gets to keep it and then drop
out of the game. Start another present around the circle.
Flying
Hearts
Glue a red and a pink heart together back to back. Put this special
heart plus about three dozen plain hearts in the center of an old bed sheet. The
children hold onto all sides of the sheet and gently toss the hearts up and down.
At the shout of "Hearts high!" the children toss the sheet high into the air,
making the hearts fly. The child who picks up the most hearts and the one who
finds the special pink and red heart are the winners.
Circle Time Heart Match Game
Make a valentine for half the number
of children in the group. Cut each heart in half in a zigzag or swirly fashion,
so that each cut is fairly unique and identifiable. Each child is given part of
a heart and must find his/her partner by matching the valentine halves.
Postman, Postman
Everyone gets to participate in this game involving
a hidden valentine. Choose one child to be postman and give him or her the postman's
hat. (Red strip of paper with pink heart that says Postman.) The postman must
hide his eyes while you give another child a valentine to hide behind their back.
Then the postman uncovers his eyes and faces his classmates who say, "Postman,
postman, where's the mail?" The postman gets three guesses to find out who is
hiding the mail. If he guesses correctly, he continues as postman. If he guesses
incorrectly, the person with the mail becomes the postman.
Mend
a Broken Heart
Team game, 2-3 people. The object is to find and put together
a large heart. Make one large heart per team. You need to divide, with lines,
the hearts into 4 sections (make all the same). Next you will make these sections
into puzzle pieces, after you write directions on them. These can be directions
to find the next section of puzzle or an action they must do before the next section
is completed. Winner is the team that finishes first.
Cut
the Heart String
Hang strings down with shapes attached with only one
heart. Have more than people attending. Shapes and heart can be made of posterboard.
Hang at just over head height. Blindfold one person at a time and give them sissors.
Then , they get one chance to cut off one string, no feeling. The winner is the
one who gets the heart string.
Sense-Sational
Test their powers of smell! Fill paper bags with a variety of items that
have an aroma that has to do with Valentine's Day such as cinnamon, chocolate,
roses, perfume, men's aftershave, etc. Be sure the smells are familiar to the
age group. Then pass the bags around and let the kids smell them without looking
inside. Give prizes to whoever guesses the most correctly.
How
Many?
Find a variety of items that the kids can guess "How many…" and
place in jars of varying sizes. For example, "How many red jellybeans in a jar,"
"How many Red Hots in a jar," "How many Hershely's Kisses," etc. Award the prize
(the jar of candy) to the child who has the closest guess for each item.

Hershey's
Kiss Roses
These adorable chocolate kiss roses make a great gift for mom
or for your childrens' teachers and are as fun to make as they are to give.
You
will need the following items per rose bud:
2 Kisses -flat side glued together,
school glue is fine
2 green chennell stems (pipe cleaners)
1 five inch
square of either colored cellophane, colored plastice wrap or colored foil Floral
tape
Place
the tip of your kisses in the center of your square. Bring the wrapping around
tightly and twist when you get to the bottom. Fold one of your stems in half.
Place the folded end overlapping the wrapping. You want it a little high for good
support at the neck. Using your floral tape start twisting tightly to cover the
stem and the base of the rosebud. When you are about 3 inches down form the bud
you will add the next stem for the leaves. Fold it in half also and loop around
the ends back to the folded end of the stem to form two leaves. Place the leaf
formation on your rose stem and tist over the bottom 1/2 inch to secure it to
the stem. Wrap tightly all the way to the end of the stem. Place them in a vase
for display.
